Welcome to the Vilchez Lab — a passionate team of scientists dedicated to exploring aging, stem cells, neurodegenerative diseases, and the biology of proteostasis.
At the Vilchez Lab, we investigate how key biological processes—such as protein homeostasis (proteostasis), epigenetic changes, post-transcriptional modifications, and cell non-autonomous signaling—regulate stem cell function, influence aging, and contribute to age-related neurodegenerative diseases. Our ultimate goal is to uncover the mechanisms that drive regeneration and promote a longer, healthier lifespan. To achieve this, we take an innovative, interdisciplinary approach that integrates cutting-edge proteomics, human stem cell research, iPSC-based disease modeling, and genetic studies using the model organism C. elegans. |
